Exploring and Living in Cuba

Day 1 Arrival with airport pick up and transportation to a private home or hotel in the Vedado district.

Day 2 A drive along the scenic malecón or seaside promminade. Walking tour through narrow streets of Old Havana that has around 3,000 buildings.  You will experience the neighborhood’s plazas, landmark and rich culture. Havana Viejo was designated a Unesco World heritage site in 1982.  It was  founded by the Spanish in 1519 and became a stopping point for the treasure laden Spanish Galleons on the crossing between the New World and the Old World. In the 17th century it was one of the main ship-building centers. The city was built in baroque and neoclassic style. Lunch with live music will be at Hemingway’s old hangout, La Bodeguita del medio.

Day 3 Downtown Havana with visits to the Museum of the Revolution, Museum of Rum and Crafts Fair. Lunch will be at Hemingway's other stomping ground, el Floridita. The establishment is famous for its daiquiris and has a life-size statue to Hemingway at the bar. Dinner will beThe 39-story Focsa building is the tallest in Havana and is located in the downtown Vedado district, a few meters from the malecón.The building built in the mid-1950s, became the second tallest building in the world constructed with reinforced concrete. On the 33rd floor is the La Torre bar-restaurant with a tremendous view of the city.

Day 4 City tour of Havana’s neighborhoods Havana Centro, Vedado, Miramar, the Hemingway Marina and  a tour of Casa José Fuster. Lunch will be at the Palanque Restaurant Complex. Visit supermarkets, shopping centers, medical clinic, ice cream parlor and view other infrastructure

Day 5 Seminar – Find out about housing options (long-term rentals and home purchase), banking, short cuts for learning Spanish, cultural differences and adjusting, residency options, valuable contacts, customs rules, Internet and communications, laws, staying busy and happy, ins and outs and dos and don’t’s  and valuable insider information to make the move as seamlessly as possible. This is a one-of-a-kind seminar with the most renowned experts on the subject.

Day 6 Departure from José Martí International Airport.

 

Add-on Tour Option 2

The same itinerary as  Tour 1 with a 2- visit to the province to the beautiful western  province of Pinar of Pinar del Río. While there you will visit the Viñales Valley which is a world Heritage Site. You’ll also see the provinces fertile valleys and steep sided limestone hills calles mogotes. The province also has many caves. 

 

Add-on Tour Option 3

The same itinerary as Tour 1  with a two-day visit to Cuba’s famous beach resort, Varadero. It boasts more than 20 km of white sandy beaches, hotels and many recreational activities like scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, yachting and other water sports. 

Prices start at $35 a night for two people (total, not per person) but do not include local tours which we can help you arrange in advance so you take most advantage of your time. Remember, you will be supporting the Cuban people directly and paying them directly at the local rates.
